Hardcore femme fatale AniMe has been continuously on the rise for years. Best known for her versatile style, catchy tunes and down-to-Earth attitude, she’s been dominating the scene with hit-tracks such as “Absolute Power” with Broken Minds, “In The End”, “Come Get Some” with DJ Mad Dog and her Masters of Hardcore Austria 2018 anthem “The Third Invasion” with Dave Revan.
We had the honour to have a quick 10 questions catch up with AniMe; read on and get to know her better!
• What’d you eat for breakfast today?
I started the day with a fresh orange juice, then I realised that I needed a boost and made myself a huge cup of coffee.
• Who do you look up to most?
There is not one person whom I admire in particular, but I admire all the determined people who succeed in realising themselves in life. I want to be the kind of person I would look up to and day by day I strive to become the best version of myself.
• What’s the most defining track for you in music history?
This is a difficult question for a music lover. There are so many wonderful songs out there but in this moment I would quote “Underworld – Born Slippy”. I’m also a huge fan of the work of pioneers such as Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy, who have all made some crazy iconic tracks.
• What song do you currently have on repeat at the moment?
D-Block & S-te-fan & D-Sturb – Feel It! It’s suddenly summer!
• Have you picked up any new hobbies during quarantine? If so, what?
Nope, because I’m actually working much more than before. Every day has become the same and I also work on Saturdays and Sundays 😀 Besides my music, I have a few new projects in mind and am working on them with other young entrepreneurs. We had these projects in mind for a while but weren’t able to start due to our busy schedules.
• What do you want to see in Hardcore in the future?
I expect more guys to come dance and experience music at events rather than just listening to it on their phone, car or computer. And I would like people to stop cataloging music according to BPM. That’s musical racism, haha!
• Most embarrassing moment on stage?
Technical problems are for sure very embarrassing. It happened a few times in my career; the music stopped not for something that depended on me, and therefore I could not even solve the situation, but I was there, on stage, without music and in front of loads of people who wanted music! Not a nice feeling, haha! In those cases I usually raise my arms and say “it’s not my fault”
• Most memorable performance?
Defqon.1 2019 – The Gathering.
The stage design was insane and it was the first day of the festival, so people were fresh with a lot of energy. I found a perfect harmony with the crowd; we were deeply connected and I can still hear the crowd screaming at any mix I made. What an insane hour – that evening will remain an incredible memory for me. The set is online on YouTube, I recommend going to see it if you guys have time.
• What stages are on your bucket list?
Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival Mainstages. No Hardcore DJs have played there yet, it’s a shame! Who knows, maybe also Hardcore will go up there one day. Never say never 🙂
• Dream dinner party guests?
Swedish House Mafia. They are the last group that made me dream with their music.
